The H&H Network London, public a service of Natascha Mirosch, on the page Travel of the daily paper of October 31 st 1997, devoted to the visit in the regions of central Italy. The author quotes various moments of shopping among
which:«...in Gambacorta, a delicatessen shop in via San Gabriele, 17 we
stopped to buy some earth porcini mushrooms and a couple of incredibly
pungent knobbly truffles to take home. They smell so strongly that
Mussolini banned Italians from carrying them on train. There are also
all kinds of sweets made by the monks, such as serpente, a kind of cake
coiled around itself like a sleeping cobra, as well as potent
throat-burning liqueurs».
